Hey There,

Got the new Motor from DMM on today. It came Monday but of course I had to be out of town.....

So now all is well!!! All axis have motion with the spindle just humming away.. Boy its been a long battle to get this far.

Link to a youtube video here.

Now to watch the videos on how to set the tools heights, off sets and then to make a small pocket.

I have Really appreciated all the help and patience.

Thanks guys.

I have installed the macro for the tool touch off. For now I have the moveable puck with the alligator clip.

I measured and put the thickness of the puck in line 71. As a positive value.

I am watching Marys Make video and her Z axis is opposite mine. On mine after I do the tool touch off and hit cycle start I immediately get the 907 limit exceeded error, relating to soft limits.

I am confused on how to make the correct setting to run a program. I currently have the soft limits for the Z axis set at 0 which it the farthest from the bed Z+ and -1.660 which is just touching my bed Z-.

I attached a current report

Thank you

Phil

That video is kind of old and dated now. In 4.18 Wizard, there is a section for Touch Devices. You should be setting it up there.
You should be using Tool Touch Off
Touch Off Tool PLC Input (Input your Conductive probe wire is connected to)
Tool Touch Off Type: Conductive
Input State When Triggered: CLOSED
Subtract Height of Tool Touch Off Device: Yes
Tool Touch Off Device Height: (enter thickness)
Use Tool Touch off to set Z Reference: YES?

Write settings
Restart CNC12

Test by using the ALT-i diagnostic screen and touching your puck to the router bit, do you see the input going from red to green?

Read the Document, there is a URL Hot Link under Input State When Triggered

Ok I have the tool touch off set as described and verified that it works by using Alt i.

When I run a program it moves over to check the height per the macro I installed.

My Z drive has Z- which is down and Z+ which is up. So all the way up is Z 0. It performs the touch off and when I run the program it moves to the tool change spot, asks about resetting zero. When I reset the zero with the tool touch off it does that and moves back to zero.

The issue comes when I hit cycle start line 33 commands the z axis to move to .20 which exceedes the limit travel of the Z axis. With the Z at zero being at the top it can't go any higher.

My Z travel limit is set from Z0 to Z-1.600.

I know I must be missing something really simple here but I'm just not figuring it out. I went back to VcarvePro and made another small simple pocket program and got the same results.

Appreciate any help.

Thank you

Phil

Is this where you got the macro from? Post your wizard screen shots for those of us that haven't looked at your report. Just to verify, you only have 1.6" of z travel? My router has 11.25" of z travel. You might want to double check how much travel you have and verify that you entered the thickness of your touchoff plate.

Dan,

That is where I got the macro from. I am using the second macro. It is true I have only 1.6 of travel with a 1/2" end mill. About 3.5" with no tool.

I do have another layer or 2 of MDF it looks like to remove so I'll pickup some more travel.

Its a bit limiting. bit its a starting point. I can add a picture of the wizard screen tomorrow morning. However it looks exactly how Marty described a few posts ago.

Thanks for the help.

Dan,

So looking at the pictures I have of my machine It looks like I can probably lower down the table part that supports the work bed to gain additional Z axis clearance.

I'll get more pictures in the morning. Its at my shop.
