Spindle encoder position error should not be related to the motor and control, but the encoder position I believe.

I am going to check my Ballscrew ratio as far as the od threading goes. It is barely off. The OAL of the Part is about .003 different than spec. May just be tool setup on the length or My ration is slightly off.

As far as the Rigid tapping and it throwing a error code goes, I'm stumped for the moment. Maybe the old KB120 isn't playing nicely with the acorn board???
Let's see if we can get Centroid to chime in. The encoder issue has me perplexed a bit. Sounds like an encoder/cable issue. You made sure all connections were good, mounts tight etc?

I assume the KBIC 120 has the SI-5 or some form of signal isolator on it?

Did you do the FINE DRO tuning procedure to calibrate your axis? See attached. (becareful with X that one will throw you off because it is setup for diameter)

DBensavage,
Please post a fresh report.
What size thread were you trying to cut?
Did you use INTERCON to cut your first thread by chance?

Try and use Intercon to do a thread.

Marty,
You were right, I programmed a rigid tap cycle using Intercon and it works. I can see where the Gcode is different. I also recalibrated the x and z axis as described in the Fine DRO Adjustment and I was off about .003 per inch on the z and .001 on the x axis. The threads are right on now. I haven't rigid tapped yet but did a dry run and it cycles fine and looks like it doing what it should. (so much for reading instructions first  )

As far as the spindle is concerned I guess I'm going to have to pull the old KB120 out of the machine so I can get to it and see if it has any adjustment pots. I tried looking with a flashlight and mirror and can't see any. If it doesn't I may need to buy a new one and adjust it per your video.

You can download the KBIC-120 manual from KB Electronics Website. But I would imagine you have a signal isolator. If its a KB Electronics unit, its probably the SI-5 and it mounts to the KBIC-120 Circuit board. You then adjust the pots on it.
