Paired Axis Squaring / 4.14 release date?

Post by mrichards »

Hi,
I have a gantry router and just ripped apart the existing Mach 3 control cabinet to rebuild with the Acorn board I just purchased.
Before purchase, I reviewed the software pairing and auto squaring diagrams and instructions to confirm that I can operate the router in this mode.
What I did NOT realize, is that the "pairing & squaring" guide was written for V4.14. Had I realized that, I would have waited to rip apart my machine.
I realize I can manually square the gantry for now, but was hoping to find out when 4.14 with the squaring logic will be released?

Thanks.

you can auto square in v4.12 you just have to write you own macros to do it.
v4.14 with auto square in the Wizard is impending.. hopefully under two weeks, we are in final testing phase at the moment.

I have been using 4.14 for a while now, and you WANT to wait for it! :)

Does squaring work with each sensor on its own input? I currently have them wired to inputs 1-4 and want 3 to be home/limit like how they are now plus the extra home only sensor on the slave side for squaring. I don't see that configuration on the wiring diagrams. Will I be able to set them up this way, have you or any of the other router beta guys tried it? Hopefully it has the ability since I don't think I'm the only one using one sensor with two trigger blocks on each axis with one block on the slave side. Any word would be great, I really hope with all the work they put in on the router version it will work this way. If you aren't allowed to comment, maybe Keith or Centroid tech can weigh in on it?

Thanks,
Dan

Will it work? Yes.
Does the Wizard auto generate the homing routine? I don't think so. I believe that the supported version is "HomeAll" for YXZ and "Slaved" for the slaved axis. Let the wizard generate a generic homing file and then you can modify it to do what you want to do.

we limited the first version of the wizard automatically generating the auto squaring home program to using HomeAll and SlavedHome as seen in the setup guide. wire the machine this way as per the setup doc and it works great. and as gary said.. if you want to do something else then you can edit the home program to create a customized version for your particular application.

Thank you very much, I'll have to start reading up on how to modify it. Can you guys point out where in the manual it goes over this?

Thanks again,
Dan
