Hello all,
I am new to Acorn and in the process of setting up my system.
Per the guideline i have attached my system report, but no pictures as i only have the controller connected to one servo and the PC. everything seems to work properly.
My question is this:
I opted for the wireless pendant which seems to work very well...... except for the 4th axis. X, Y & Z all work as expected (Jog and zero set) but the 4th will jog + & - but will not zero or respond to input from the hand wheel.
Thanks,
JoeG
The PC is W10 box i3-3220 @ 3.3Ghz

Joe, Hello. Thanks for posting the report.zip file. it shows that the system is still using CNC12 Free. please install the Pro License for the wireless MPG to function.

Re: Help with 4th axis and wireless pendant
Hello,
I have the Digitizing bundle (which I thought included Pro), the MPG does work, just not the 4th axis.
Thanks,
Joe

Thanks

Re: Help with 4th axis and wireless pendant
yes Dig includes all features of Pro.
put the mpg on x100 and 4th axis selector and try it. i just used your settings on my bench top and it works.
what is the rotary table gear reduction ratio?
the report.zip show you have the overall turns ratio for A axis set to .0139

Re: Help with 4th axis and wireless pendant
typical rev/degrees for milling machine rotary tables range in the .25 to .5 revolutions of the axis motor per degree of movement.
example 180:1 reduction = .5 revolution of the axis motor for every degree of rotary movement.
example 90:1 reduction = .25 revolution of the axis motor for every degree of rotary movement.
post of photo of your rotary setup.

Re: Help with 4th axis and wireless pendant
0.0138889 would be the correct turns/degree for a rotary axis with 5:1 reduction. I would use at least 6 decimal places

Re: Help with 4th axis and wireless pendant
Thanks for looking into it.
The gearbox is 5:1 so 1/(360/5) = 0.0138888889
It is an old servo gearbox I repurposed (it was free and doesn't eat so....), I know it's not ideal but for now it will have to do.
I changed the OS to W7 Pro X64, reloaded everything, ran the wizard etc... and now it works as expected.
I tried to upload a photo of the rotary axis but am unable to upload .jpg files, is there a size restriction?
Thanks again.
P.S. is the forum down every night ?
Thanks, JoeG

Re: Help with 4th axis and wireless pendant
i hope you are not using Win7, Win7 is not supported by cnc12
yes there is a size limit to the jpegs that you can upload to the forum. we suggest that all Acorn users create an online photo album using anyone of the many free photo services like Google photos. This allows all your machine/control photos to be in one location and provides a "history" of your machine/project, then you can easily post one link here in the forum and we can see all the photos or just the one you want to show us.. examples... Marty, Kai and I have been using google photo albums for this.. here is an example. https://photos.app.goo.gl/foisQ42QZEbmA4Nv1 ...
i haven't seen the forum go down in about 3 months.
