Has anyone use or setup a Carotron Drive for a D.C. spindle motor?
Model EPN040-000 (20Hp@240vdc or 40Hp@500vdc. 71 amps continuous or 107 amps peak.) with three phase ac input.
I am using it on a Ikegai X25n CNC lathe 20hp D.C. Spindle configured with Acorn. Most of the input and outputs are similar to a VFD drives.
All interface with Acorn is working perfectly the only problem I have is with setting up the parameters of the drive. It is going into fault above 1200 rpm running a program in CSS. With the clutch disengage from the spindle (no load) the problem does not exist no fault signals.
Spindle motor spec:
Yaskawa field shunt
Armature spec:
11kw 3500 rpm 200v @67
11kw 1150 rpm 180v @ 71
Field Spec: 90v@3.2 amps at 3500 rpm
90v@10.5 amps at 1150 rpm
Tach drive from D.C. Motor feeding the carotron for speed reference.
