Hi Centroid Forum,
- I am considering using a Centroid Controller on a DynaMyte 3000 Lathe Upgrade.
- The DynaMyte 3000 Lathe is a conversational programmed CNC, but from about a late 1980-early 1990'-ish vintage. I.e. Not that good.
- The DM3000 has a rotating Turret Automatic tool changer that uses a BCD (Binary Coded Decimal) input to know what tool it has successfully rotated to.
- I am definitely impressed with the threading and rigid tapping that I see on the video's.
- I have an identical DM3000 lathe that is set up with Geck G540 and Mach3 and is not capable of threading reliably (I believe it has to do with the speed of the PC - but not sure.).
- Has anyone ever done a Centroid Lathe retrofit with a tool changer?
- I also have a pneumatic collet opener/closer on the lathe - that with a few relays could be made controllable via software - and then could implement a bar puller/bar feeder mechanism.
Just curious what everyone has done with this system.
