While reading the manual I did not find a example how to find the center of a part.

I found an old topic describing a possible solution by using macro's

but I wonder if there is already an easier way to do this.

hello. are you talking about a CNC touch Probe or a Manual edge finder?

I am using a manual Haimer 3D taster.

Use the part setup menu to set part zeros.
set a zero on any side of the part, go to the other side of the part and touch that edge, look at the DRO (Digital Read Out) value that is the width of the part in that axis. to find the center, divide by 2.

if you had a touch probe wired into the Acorn board there is an automatic probing cycle called "web" this automatically finds the center of a web (your part), there is also a "slot" probing cycle that will find the center of a slot.

I actually submitted a enhancement request a few years ago about this. Would it be possible to have the axis set value box pop up with half the axis value already preset? Since most of our axis setting is either setting 0 or a midpoint, it's easier to change the value to 0 than to grab the calculator and figure out half the axis reading and then type that in.

you don't need a calculator.. just type in the value of the dro in the part setup screen with the math right in the line.
its quite simple really.

That's great about using math in the inputs. Can that be added to the AUX key one-shots for Input X/Y/Z axis positions? Also, would it be possible to have it use something like "@" to be an alias for the current axis position? That would prevent us dyslexics from mistyping the numbers.
