I'm trying to write automation to replace the former functionality we had with Mach4.

I think Keith meant to ask what functional devices you are trying to turn on and off, under what circumstances.Gerral wrote:I'm trying to write automation to replace the former functionality we had with Mach4.
If we knew what the actual application was, then we could offer better advice about the best way to implement it.
Some things are suitable to do entirely in the VCP.
Some things are suitable to do entirely in CNC macros: possibly as custom M functions that can be called from a CNC job; possibly as standalone macros called only from the VCP.
Many things are already supported by existing code in the default (factory-supplied) PLC program and macros.
Some things require PLC program modification.
Some things you may prefer to just do with hard-wired relay logic.

It's a pneumatic platter that holds the work.
I was able to write a macro that toggled it and assigned it to a skin event.. it works now.
