I don't see line number for my servo specifications anywhere in the manual, CNC12 is asking for that in the spindle settings.
The encoder info I see in the manual is:
feedback - single-turn absolute encoder
Encoder resolution 7bit=131072P/r
Would 131072 also be the line number?

Is the encoder line number different from resolution?

Re: Is the encoder line number different from resolution?
make model , link to manual please.
and what is the application?
If you are using Acorn and this is an AC servo. good starting numbers are 8000 steps per rev in the Wizard and in the Servo setup software. (the encoder pulses do not matter with acorn)

Re: Is the encoder line number different from resolution?
If you want to use the servo encoder for the spindle, the servo must drive the spindle 1:1
Set up the encoder output in the servo driver to the desired resolution and use this setting in the wizard.

Re: Is the encoder line number different from resolution?
Uwe,
Yes this is for a spindle and it is 1:1
I looked at the manual for some setting and thought I found it.
Is there a better number than the default 2500 ?
Can I leave these last two settings at the default of 0 ?

Re: Is the encoder line number different from resolution?
2500 is ok for threading, for C-Axis I would use 36000.
For the other settings I have not enough information about your servo.

I suspect that C00.28 Number of frequency-division output pulses set to 2500 will yield a setting of 10,000 pulse/rev in CNC12xbartx wrote: ↑Tue Nov 19, 2024 2:15 pmUwe,

Those other two parameters should be left at the default of 0.
C00.1A ABZ port selection changes the function of the secondary encoder signals that are most likely on the main interface header. You want that to be set to Frequency-division output to get the divided encoder output to the Acorn.
C00.2A Z-pulse output polarity selection will change what the drive considers to be the index pulse "active" output level for compatibility with various devices. All current Centroid controllers expect a positive Z pulse.

Agree.I suspect that C00.28 Number of frequency-division output pulses set to 2500 will yield a setting of 10,000 pulse/rev in CNC12
Generally when a hardware supplier says "pulses" they mean "lines" or "cycles" (a full cycle of the quadrature square waves).
CNC12 and the Wizard, I expect (I hope) instead use the word "counts", meaning quadrature edges. That should be 4x the number of "lines".
