probe wiring question

I have one of the probes in the picture which i'd like to use on more than one machine, so rather than keep disconnecting the cable I sourced another cable which has different coloured wires (see photo) The original cable has 3 wires - black, red and yellow. I'm trying to figure out how to know which 3 wires to use on the new cable. I'm thinking red and black might be the same?? But which to use for the yellow?? Is there some way of checking which wire goes to which pin on the plug? Thanks in advance

I use my probes with a 4 for pole GX12 plug, so easy to switch from one machine to another with the original cable.

Thats a great idea but i'd like to have permanent wires on all machines so I just plug the probe in with the usb c on the unit.Plus i've bought the cable now
cheers

You can use a multimeter to map the connector pins to the wire colors on each cable.

As Tom stated use a multimeter to determine which wire goes to each pin on both cables. Do not assume ANY are the same because of color.
I use 5 pin panel mount XLR connectors on the gantry of my routers so that I can plug in either my movable tool touch off or my touch probe. I have the same one in your photo. On the cables for both tools they have the mating 5 pin XLR connector. They quickly plug in and lock when I’m using them and I unplug they and store them when not in use. They both plug into the same panel mount connector on the gantry and it includes the wiring circuit for “probe detect” so Acorn knows if I plugged in my tool touch off or the probe.
I keep all the wiring the same and I can use the probe (or the movable tool touch off) on any of my machines.
