Probe detect / probe protection

Post by jasonstewart81 »

I directly messaged @cnckeith about this, but he said to create a post about it. I have a very simple quick question on something I swear I remember seeing somewhere in the forum but CAN NOT find it again for the life of me or maybe I was just dreaming it. I could have swore I remember seeing some added features to one of the new versions of CNC 12 released that automatically initiated a probe detected when performing a probing cycle whether it be a touch probe or tool touch off, etc. Was I dreaming this? It'd be nice to save 2 inputs for probe detect if I can. I have an ether 1616, but even though I expanded to a 24 x 24 enclosure, I'm still finding myself running out of room to fit everything. I wish y'all had an ether 88. 😂

there is new probe detection feature based on the probe tool number,
for example when you have your probe set up as tool #10, if you load tool #10 in cnc12 it knows you have the probe in the spindle and probe protection is on.

this of course is not as good as having a detection wire, wired to a detection input as it still allows the operator to job or perform probe move Unprotected if the operator doesn't have the Probe Tool number loaded. but is better than not having probe protection at all.

mount the ether1616 on the door.
make a photo album of your project and post a link to it here.

I'm going to try my best to fit my ether 1616 in my enclosure so I can wire in for probe protection, but if not, I'm glad there's at least some protection still there.
