Teknic Merdian Controllers

Post by vinnito1 »

I was wondering how difficult it would be to use the Acorn board to control Teknic Merdian Servo drivers for a DIY CNC mill project? My engineering degree is not in software or electric but I thought I would at least ask the question. I

Clearpath SD Yes, because they take step and direction. https://www.teknic.com/products/clearpa ... arpath-sd/
Acorn will work with most any driver that takes standard step and direction input.
I believe Meridian is its own motion controller, though I could be wrong, so no, Meridian will not work.

several beta Testers use the Teknic motors and drives with Acorn. Alan and Mike come to mind.
here is photos of Alan's setup.

and link to his post with video he made about hooking up the teknic motors.

I know that Acorn works seamlessly with Clearpath Sdsk motors, but my question is can Acorn be the signal generator for the Merdian Servo drives and Hudson motors?

doesn't say anything about accepting step and direction on the Merdian paperwork.
why do you want to use these over the Teknic Clearpath units?

I'd give Teknic a call and talk to one of their engineers.
Those folks are very helpful and if you have a model number they will want that.

This is good advice. The hudson motors are good motors, but the meridian is a motion controller, as is the Acorn.
