Virtual Control Panel E-Stop Button.

Post by Reedfirst »

While reading through the different posts in the forums I noticed that some users have a square E-Stop Button and some have a Round E-stop button on the Virtual Control Panel.

Just curious whats the differences.

Software revision. The new button is and will be square.

Cool. I think the square button looks nicer.

I suppose this is in the firmware update that Keith mentioned is due to release soon?

Why change to a square icon when the round icon is more or less the industry standard?

Personally, I think changing it is a bad idea, it should look like a hard stop button.
Although calling it an emergency stop is not a good idea either.

hello. as you know we are always making improvements to CNC12 and the VCP and a few weeks ago we realized that neither the round shape or the estop name for a touch screen button was a good idea. hence the improvement in shape and name, the reset button on the VCP is now labeled and shaped correctly to meet industry CNC control standards. The new reset button will be available for all Acorn users with the upcoming CNC12 v4.08 release (free of charge).
v4.08 will be available soon as an upgrade from v4.06 as well as for new Acorn CNC12 installations and will have a number of additions and improvements over v4.06 such as the much anticipated Lathe CNC12 Acorn cnc software with Rigid Tapping and Threading Cycles, Lathe Conversational Programming and Lathe Encoder input as well as BCD Tool change output for Lathe Turrets, Improved axis motor pairing, Improved Keyboard/Xkeys/Xbox operator controls, Bi directional Screw compensation tables and of course the updated Reset Button on the VCP along with a long list of little updates and additions to numerous to list here.
