The Centroid CNC control has a "keyboard jogging” feature built into the Centroid CNC11 and CNC12 software. This allows a regular PC keyboard to be able to control axis jogging and other machine tool functions. for those CNC DIY'er that are on a budget you can use a plain old PC keyboard to control Axis Jogging and other machine functions. The “keyboard jogging” feature is much more than just machine tool axis jogging as you can also control Spindle ON/OFF, FWD Reverse, speed UP/DN, Coolant control for Flood and Mist, Feedrate Override, Cycle Canel, Tool Check, Feed Hold, Cycle Start, and a bunch of other machine tool functions which you can customize using the nine available auxiliary keys!
Another more convenient option is to use a dedicated USB Keypad like the Xkeys pad. Found here on amazon. https://www.amazon.com/XK-24-USB-Progra ... ords=xkeys
The Xkeys pad can be programmed to match the keystrokes needed for the Centroid “keyboard jogging” feature which makes things simple and easy with one button press of clearly labeled keys for common operator machine tool functions. Attached to this email are the Xkeys setup files that we created to program a 24 key xkeys pad to be compatible with a Centroid Milling machine CNC control along with the key label graphics sized correctly for the Xkeys software and in high resolution so they print nicely. Link to the webpage that contains the Xkeys setup files and images we created to program the Xkeys pad to be compatible with Centroid keyboard jogging.

fyi..for router customers who want to carry the xkeys pad long distances to reach tool touch off on a large machine....
if you need a longer USB cable than 15'.. , once you get over 15' you need a repeater usb cable. like this one. https://www.amazon.com/Importer520-Prem ... e+repeater

fyi.. I updated the Centroid Xkeys24 Mill Template, Legend and Image set a few minor updates, added a Rapid Overide button and Changed Aux 2 to Aux 9.
and improved images load path so if you unzip the provided zip file on the desktop you no longer have to copy key label images to another directory, it all just loads automatically now.

Re: Xkeys USB Keypad Operator Control Panel for Centroid CNC
Hi,
I have purchased a usb XJ-24.
Downloaded the centroid_Xkeys24.zip file
Which is the file which holds the macro file and images for the XK-24 to work the Centroid CNC.
I can see loads of images.
Are there any instructions or youtube videos?
Does anyone have instructions?
Thanks
Mike

The Zip file contains everything you need to program and create the Xkeys Mill Operators pendant seen above.) Zip file contains: Pre made keypad macros for the above Xkeys Mill pendant, use this file to auto program the xkeys pad with the Xkeys Macorworks software use the Load Template and Import Legend feature in Macroworks Xkeys software with these files. Pre made Centroid Xkey key pad graphics (seen above) and Xkey pad legend and Centroid short cut list. (note also included in the zip file above are several Lathe key legends and the original Illustrator vector artwork and photoshop file used to create the .JPG's of the Xkey key labels, these are provided to make it easier for the DIY user to make there own .JPG labels for a Lathe or any other custom application.)
download the Xkeys pad macro programming pad software "MacroWorks" here

Re: Xkeys USB Keypad Operator Control Panel for Centroid CNC
Sorry to be so dense about this, but does the key pad have to be in a usb port on a computer that is in communication with an acorn board, in order to automatically program the Xk-24 keys. I would appreciate a step by step approach.
Thanks,
ElderThomas

Re: Xkeys USB Keypad Operator Control Panel for Centroid CNC
hello. use the X keys manual/webpage for that kind of guidance. xkeys is just a pc keyboard emulator, it plugs into the PC usb port.elderthomas wrote: ↑Tue Jan 31, 2023 6:35 pm Sorry to be so dense about this, but does the key pad have to be in a usb port on a computer that is in communication with an acorn board, in order to automatically program the Xk-24 keys. alternative (not Xkeys) hard key methods are wiring up a real button(s) to Acorn input(s) for common operator controls such as Feed Hold, Cycle Start, Cycle Cancel and use the Acorn Wizard to set in the input function(s) to Feed Hold2, Cycle Start2, Cycle Cancel2

Re: Xkeys USB Keypad Operator Control Panel for Centroid CNC
I am talking about transferring the macros from the centroid Xkeys-24 zip files to the proper keys on the Xk-24 pad. Each time I try to do this I get and error of a missing image file.

post a photo of what you are running into and describe what you are doing when it happens.elderthomas wrote: ↑Wed Feb 01, 2023 7:04 pm I am talking about transferring the macros from the centroid Xkeys-24 zip files to the proper keys on the Xk-24 pad.
