Setting dip switches for CL86T and CL57T (V4.1)

I'm a newbie at this and I have concerns about the correct switch settings. I have the following binary settings 10101000 for both drivers. Does this look okay? Also, I'm confused about why they include a programming cable if these switches serve thr same propose. Thanks for any help.

The switches don't serve the same purpose. If you want more help you should post a link to the manual for your drive and motor. We can't possibly know what motors you have or what all the switches do for that particular drive. You need to match the drive to the motor current and then the step/rev to the Acorn. At minimum we need a link the the drive manual and the motor specs.

Your DIP switch setting should be fine. The only questionable one is #5 as you may need to switch direction depending on how it mounted to get the correct direction from it. You can also change the direction in the Wizard. You then also need to set the steps/rev in the Acorn wizard to 4000 since that's what you chose for the drive.

As for S1, I'd start with a setting of 4 given your motors rated current is 6A. Those motors have a VERY high inductance so use the largest DC power supply you can, say a 60 VDC power supply. The motors can handle up to 70 volts DC with that high inductance.

Thanks you so much. Yes, I was unsure of the rotation direction. I did buy a 60 VDC p.s. for the NEMA 35. Thanks for the S1 setting. I was scratching my head about that.
