X and Y axis exceeded

Post by Yarger897 »

Hi everyone, I just finished my first cnc and testing a few thing out. I'm not sure what I did but now when I'm in the center of the bed trying to calibrate the movement of the machine, I get an x and y axis travel limits exceeded when I enter in MDI g1x1 or g1y1 The axis works fine when I ender g1z-1. I am far from the soft limits and no limit switches are tripped. I can move it manually just fine.I guess I'm new and just looking for some help, thanks in advanced.

Not sure where your actual home location for your machine is (front, back, left, right), but your machine coordinates and the working coordinates (WCS #1) are the same and with the soft limits you have set, a G1X1 or Y1 is beyond the positive soft limits of 0.0 that you have set.

In the case of the above, if you were to set WCS #1 to be 0,0 where it's sitting in the picture, then you'd be able to do G1X1 etc.

I'd possibly revisit how you have your machine home location configured, and also the soft limits according to the max travel you have from that point. And remember that your work coordinates (WCS #1-6) can be set anywhere within that.

post a fresh report.zip we will look it over and give you advice in general and on other stuff we see in it

make a photo album of your project, #3 here shows how.

Your travel limits are not "typical" for a router either which is homing to the front, left corner. And as noted already you can easily exceed travel limits if they are not set correctly or you set your work 0,0 incorrectly.
