Re: Acorn Geckodrive g320x
I know nothing about Gecko drives but I looked at the manual briefly. Did you determine the optimal encoder counts per the manual? Did you set the drive gain appropriately for your system? Did you adjust the P, I and D trim pots per the manual for optimal motor tuning? There seems to be a lot of setup for that drive to dial it in for smooth, consistent operation.
As for the speed, I was going to suggest the same as Uwe. I used DMM DYN5 drives on my last router build and I can program the encoder counts (they call it "gear" in the drive software) and set it up several ways. Again, I know nothing about Gecko drives or if they are programmable or not.
Example, if you have 2000 count encoder then you set the the step/rev in the wizard to 8000, (quadrature) and lets just say this yields a 500 IPM rapid travel rate on the gantry.
If you program the same drive to 1000 counts on the encoder and then set the step rate in the wizard to 4000 (still quadrature) now the machine will move twice as fast.
At some point the motor will stall so be careful during adjustments like this. As I said before the motor and drive train can only go so fast.

Re: Acorn Geckodrive g320x
I did some thinking and made a spreadsheet for doing these basic axis properties calculations but I think I figured out your speed issue. So, the specifications from Gerber state that the positioning resolution is ~0.0019 mm / step. Given that the overall turns ratios are unchanged (~8 mm/rev) and that the motors are running at less than half of rated speed leads to a clue. Positioning resolution with 8192 counts / rev and 8mm is roughly 0.00098 mm / step. This is about half of what the manufacturer specified give or take some rounding.
From this info, I would suspect that the encoder resolution has doubled. With 8192 counts / rev and 8 mm / rev I calculate a max rate of 11700 mm / minute with 200 kHz output step rate. With half the encoder resolution, that speed obviously doubles.

Hello friends I am going to share a video with you, please watch it carefully, and give me your impressions this measurement was made on the Y axis.
The circles improved a little, but they still come out deformed attached to the photo.
Remember that I am using a gecko g320x driver
Encoder cui amt 102 to 2048ppr
Everything else in the machine is original mechanical ratio, engines everything is original from the manufacturer Gerber

Re: Acorn Geckodrive g320x
In the motor pulley we have 32 teeth
On lead screw pulley 70 teeth
This mechanical relationship is maintained in the two X and Y axes

Re: Acorn Geckodrive g320x
32 / 70 = so that's a .457142 reduction. what is the pitch of the screw? (how much linear movement per one revolution of the SCREW)

For each revolution of the lead screw, there is a linear movement of 20mm on the table

Re: Acorn Geckodrive g320x
20 x .4571428 = 9.14285 = one rev of the axis motor should move the table 9.14285 mm
so either your numbers are wrong in the axis config screen or you counted in the number of teeth incorrectly.

Friend if I counted wrong the pulley of the motor has 28 teeth not 34
