I heard back from the manufacturer and they want to charge a fee to provide a possible answer.

You say you have these settings:
PD001 1 (Use digital inputs for on off)
PD002 1 (Source of operating frequency)
PD003 300 (Main Frequency)
PD004 300 (Base Frequency)
PD005 300 (Max Frequency - Max RPM of the motor)
PD006 2.5 (Intermediate Frequency - Should have no relevance)
PD008 220 (Max motor voltage from motor nameplate)
PD011 200 (Minimum Frequency - Set the lower frequency based on desire minimum RPM)
PD014 10 (Acceleration Time)
PD015 10 (Deceleration Time)
PD070 0 (Analog Input - 0 = 0-10VDC input)
PD072 300 (Lowest Analog Frequency)
PD073 (Highest Analog Frequency)
PD142 8.6 (Motor Nameplate current)
PD143 4 (# of motor poles)
PD144 3000 (Motor Nameplate RPM
PD176 1 (Inverter Frequency Standard)

Since the PD011 is set to 200 then the lowest speed should be 12000 RPM
Since PD005 is set to 300 then the max speed should be 18000 rpm (Per the motor name plate at 300hz)

If you want to go less than 12000rpm, then I would think you need to reduce parameter PD011
If you want to go more than 18000rpm, then I would think you need to increase parameter PD995
You may have to change PD072 and PD073
Also, I would think your value of 3000 in PD144 is incorrect. The motor nameplate RPM for your motor is 18000

Do you have a J1 jumper and if so what is jumpered
OR do you have a jumper labeled VI?

If there is custom firmware in that HY Drive, then it would explain why you can't change some of the settings.
If you have a bench DC power supply that can provide 0-10VDC, you can connect it to the ACM (COM) and VI (0-10VDC)
and put a jumper from DCM to FWD, you should be able to run the VFD with your bench power supply, or you could use a 1.5 dry cell battery and a 9VDC dry cell battery to do something similar.

Huan Yang support email address is: service@hy-electrical.com
They are pretty responsive.
You do need to find out if you have a genuine HY drive or a knock off.

I'm just trying to provide some ideas.
Shame but not surprising the manufacturer (Who is it? China?) wants to charge you for help.
You could always buy another VFD is that is not genuine HY or has some custom firmware perhaps...

I have a jumper V1.
The problem is that when I set the MDI to 12000 rpm I get 12512 rpm. When I set the MDI to 18000 rpm, I get 18000 rpm. Everything in between is higher than the set amount to varying degrees.
I set the number of poles to 2 as suggested by another member and that made no difference.

I also emailed the service number you provided thank you.

You will NOT get the EXACT rpm called. It may deviate.
So when you call m3 S18000 you get 18000rpm?
Your bottom end setting is 12000 rpm, based on your parameter settings, so 12000 should be your minimum spindle speed in the Wizard.

You set the minimum frequency and the maximum frequency for the desired RPM.
Sometimes the VFD has gain and offset settings you can tweak. I don't see those settings in the inexpensive Huan Yang VFD

So your problem wasn't that you could not control the VFD from ACORN, your concern was getting closer RPM then correct?

I think you were pointed to this post:
viewtopic.php?f=63&t=1650

I assume once an RPM is called, the spindle RPM is fairly steady and not fluctuating a lot?

The rpms are fluctuating. The higher you go the greater the difference. I can control it from acorn. I expect the rpms to match but setting 14000 rpm in Acorn and getting 16700 rpms isn't close.

You have a 12,000 minimum speed, and an 18000 maximum speed programed into your VFD. What do you have the minimum and maximum spindle speeds set to in CNC12?
Cheers,

Tom

I mentioned this several posts ago that PD011 should be zero and not 12000. Maybe if enough people post it it'll get changed. It's a simple programming issue and because so many parameter keep getting changed it's hard to know where he started.

He also needs to calibrate the VFD so he's closer to the RPM setting in MDI. Adding the cap across the analog outputs will probably be needed as well to stabilize the RPM.

I put PD0011 to 0, it made no difference. I have no idea what you mean by calibrating the VFD or adding a cap. The maximum speed I have set in Acorn is 18000. ShawnM said to put the minimum at 0.
Neither of these made a difference.

I set the MDI at 12000 rpm the VFD read 12512 rpm. The voltage read 6.75 volts. I believe it should be 5 volts. Why?
