WOW sorry for getting distracted again. Here is a video of the screen capture. I have tried to play with setting and nothing has changed. What sucks is that I only get that time out message.

Got it figured out!!!!!!

Changed settings to
849: 20 (wondering if the motor is dying)
850: 0
851: 2 (If I didnt change this instead of stopping on tool 1 it would roll back to 6)

Make sure you are supplying the correct forward and reverse voltage for your machine.

It is getting 12v going forward.. I ordered a 12v power supply so I can try that instead of having to drop the voltage down from 24v to 12v.

Ok I am back at this again. I did upgrade the motor so now I have use 24v forward and 12v to hold it against the paw. But I am still having issues. Hopefully this video explains what is going on.

Need you recap, do you have a turret sensor for tool #1?
Do you have a second sensor for counter ng tool positions

Did you start from square one on the Universal lath ATC instructions and take them one step at a time?
Did you enter the timing values to roll past the tool number and back up?
I can tell you that turret appears to be rotating way too fast.

I've done several Emco turrets and they all work with a motor. Never used a stepper motor for position. You have to back up that turret to rest against the pawl.

ALWAYS post a FRESH REPORT when asking for help.

Alright so from the beginning.

These are the settings that I entered. from the Acorn counter based tool turret with home sensor Instructions
A. Parameter #6 = 1
B. Parameter #160 = 1 (Sets ATC to non-random type meaning it puts tools back into same positions)
C. Parameter #161 = Maximum number of tool positions
D. Parameter #820 = 1 (Sets machine type to lathe)
E. Parameter #830 = 2 **NEW** (Sets what t ype of ATC you have for PLC and macros, values are
subject to change in future so ensure to check documentation on every update)
F. Parameter #850 = Amount of time to wait before actually seeing the tool counter input. This is done
due to the turret having to reverse in order to lock which will place the turret behind the tool counter.
Once the turret starts moving the control will skip the first count it sees. If the parameter is set to 0, it
will default to 2.5 seconds.
G. Parameter #851 = Amount of time in seconds to go past the tool counter input before the turret
reverses into the locked position. This is done so that the turret reverses into the correct tool location
instead of the previous tool location. If the parameter is set to 0, it will default to 0.75 seconds.

Any time I did a M18 I would get an ATC Timeout.

I checked power going to the motor. It had 12v (dedicated PSU) to move it forward and then 5v to hold it against the paw.
My turret does have two sensors and both are hooked up.

I changed these settings.
849: 20 (wondering if the motor is dying)
850: 0
851: 2 (If I didnt change this instead of stopping on tool 1 it would roll back to 6).

After those changes Marty stated that it shouldn't take that long for an M18.

Since I thought the motor was dying I went with changing the motor.

My turn 50 did come from a community college so who knows what abuse it has taken. I did have to get the turret plate welded to fix some threads for the I.D. tooling.

Ill upload a new report when I get home.

You need to tell us which ATC program and schematic you are using
You need to recap what sensors are on the turret.
We do need a fresh report.
WHAT is Parameter 849?

As I mentioned, I am very concerned about the speed at which the turret is rotating. You can slow the turret down by dropping the voltage to the motor in forward and reverse. normally the motor voltage is reduced and stalled in reverse as the turret is against the pawl. I think you will burn up that motor or possibly cause some damage if you reverse against the pawl at a high voltage.
The original motor ALSO had a planetary gear reducer on it.

You need to tell us which ATC program and schematic you are using: Lathe_Turret_Counter and S14986-ACORN_rev4_EMCO_PC55_2_SENSOR_TURRET_LATHE_STANDARD_CONNECTIONS.pdf

You need to recap what sensors are on the turret.
TT Sync Bit and TT Position Bit 1

Report will happen when I get home from work tonight.

Paramater 849 is Tool Change Time Out Timer Default. Earlier you told me to change this.

This new motor also has gearing in it. This was a $12 motor from amazon and ill buy a 50rpm motor, I am going to be putting a current limiting resistor inline with the 12v but right now I need to get it working.
