Re: Acorn controller card question
Hello
I am testing the acorn with the servo motors, they are running now but i need increase the speed, i have tried all the parameter values, but maybe i have to adjust the servo drive to raise speed up, what i should select between torque position or speed control on the drive?

What do you have your steps per motor rev set to?
Under the advanced tab what is the step rate frequency set to?
Make and model of the axis drives and a link to the documentation?

I see you have 4096 steps per motor rev setup in the Wizard. Is that what you have setup in the drives?
You also have 16 turns per inch setup in the overall turns ratio. Is that also correct?
Have you calibrated the axis? When you command a move it actually moves that distance?

Re: Acorn controller card question
Thank you Marty
Yes it is a router, the g code runs ok but when it go to G0 rapids it is slow, the 16 in per rev. Its what it give me for 1 inch of movment, the 4090 steps per motor rev. I select that assuming the driver said it is 400khz when i try to increase the steps per motor rev. they stall, i will set the parameters you sent me and see, maybe the drives need to change some parameter? The old conttoller they had analog signals but i already change the drive parameter to recive step and dir.

Re: Acorn controller card question
What does it mean speed mode, position mode, torque mode? It is related to faster speed on rapids? Do i have to set one of these modes for give more rpm to the servomotors in rapid?

Re: Acorn controller card question
Those are the servo drive control input modes. Torque/Velocity mode usually requires +/- 0-10VDC analog input.noel-nogal wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 11:13 am What does it mean speed mode, position mode, torque mode? You are in Position mode currently correct? Using Step and Direction signals?
Your issue is that based on your current settings:
Advanced Tab, 400K step/Second
Axis Configuration tab, 4096 steps/rev
Axis Configuration tab, 16 Overall Turns Ratio
Your calculated MAX JOG Rate can be: 366 inches per minute as calculated by CNC12
To increase the max jog rate, you have to decrease the steps/rev and change that value in the drive as well. For instance if you changed it from 4096 to 2000 your Max Jog rate would increase to 750ipm
Your issue is the 16 TPI fine pitch ball screw.

Re: Acorn controller card question
Looking at your drive manual it appears for Open Collector signals you shouldn't use over 200k frequency which is what the Wizard defaults to when you choose Yaskawa drives. You may or may not have trouble using 400k steps/second. Lowering the value to 200k steps/second is going to force your rapids lower.

Re: Acorn controller card question
it is highly unlikely that a router has 16 turns per inch. post photos.
what is more likely is that the overall has not been calculated correctly. get that right first and then move on to setting speeds. etc..
