Post a current report please. Does the LED on the Acorn board change colors when you trip it?

The LED on the acorn does not change when manually blocking the prox, only if I unplug it completely

In the same package of proximity sensors, I have had some different ones in the mix before. Make sure it is the same part number and that it is npn. Normally open or normally closed can be used either way and flipped in the wizard. If you have not done that, give that a try for the one not working for you. Basically the proxy just grounds that input line. You can remove it and when giving it ground see the light change on the board and vcp.

I will double check again but I had a spare that the tag is displayed in the pictures above. This wire is the only wire bunched with my servo wires. I am wondering in there is some kind of interference although the servo shouldn't. It will be the weekend before I get to try, but planning on attaching a new wire and seeing if it makes a difference. Otherwise, I am at a loss. I don't normally use shielded wire for a proxy, but that may be an option. You can wire a proxy straight into the controller and make sure it's good that way. Try leaving that servo disconnected both power and signal and see if the proxy works for a test. That should tell you if the servo is messing with it. I'm thinking a bad connection or wire crossed is more likely.

I need more ideas! I disconnected the wiring at the control cabinet and wired the spare prox in there, eliminating wiring as a suspect. Well, one last hail Mary! On a random chance that there was an issue with both, my original prox and the new spare I had, I tried a different style of NPN I had in a package that came with me new Z axis. It worked although it acted as NO! I am clueless as to how it is possible that I could have 2 bad proximity sensors, one of which was new. As long as when you ground the input, it changes, the acorn is fine. The NO switch doesn't bother me, as it's just for homing and soft limits take care of the rest. Sounds like progress.

At least the Acorn works and it's a sensor issue. Maybe the last one you tested is NO. Will it work? Sure, but NC is preferred for safety reasons. And as Ken stated the soft limits will take care of the axis travel limits.
