I've attached the information about the input signals of those drives from the manual provided and a suggested hookup from the Acorn to the existing cables.

So, am I getting my head around this correctly, when I ask about the "com"terminal on the Acorn board. Should the "com" terminal be connected to the Acorn power supply + or something else?

If you connect the ACORN "COM" terminals to + power on the supply power you will short out the power supply.
All the "COM" terminals on the ACORN board are connected together on the board and are all 0V/COM.

Thank you Centroid_Tech2, I will connect the DA98B exactly as your PDF shows, this morning. I'm already wondering why you use the DB25 connector rather than the output screw terminals, but putting that query aside, I will follow your diagram exactly and see what happens.
Thanks again
Dave

I see now that "com" is clearly what I would call signal ground.
Thanks again

You will have to find the parameter for the signal input type on the drive and set it for the step and direction as shown in the chart if it's not already set to that, which it probably isn't.

Thanks for that piece of information as well Centroid_Tech2 . I will try to change that on the DA98B driver 1st.

Re: New Build King Rich KRV-3000 Knee Mill with GSK AC Servos DA98B driver
Just confirming that I have things correct, I will alter parameter PA04 from the factory setting of 1 to a new setting of 0. as below?
Sequence number: PA04 Name: Control mode selection Factory Setting: 1 New setting: 0
Sequence number: PA04 Name: Control mode selection Factory Setting: 1 New setting: 0

For my reasoning behind this see pages 29, 51 of the DA98B manual that I posted earlier in this thread,

Re: New Build King Rich KRV-3000 Knee Mill with GSK AC Servos DA98B driver
Sadly both PA04 and PA14 were already set to a value of zero. I removed all of the wires that I had installed and reinstalled them as per your diagram, which happened to be the same as my original wiring. I checked with a DMM that there was continuity on all the connections that I made (I had done this before as well).
The Servo driver still works with no problems when the DA98B is connected to the 980MDa, but there is no movement when connected to the Acorn.
