Tree Journeyman 425 mill retrofit

Moved the mill into its home. The toe jack made quick work of moving and turning the 6000 pound machine. I’m not going to set it on the floor until it’s up and running. I need a machine try pry bar to lower it off the bar its sitting on.

I’m really impressed with the quality of the jack. I used 1/2 pipe (or rigid. I don’t remember) to roll the mill. I need a machinery bar.

Removed the Dynapath Delta 20 Control and servo drivers. Hoping I can get a few bucks for it all to help pay for the new stuff. The cabinets were like the rest of the machine. Absolutely filthy. A little better now.

I could put the new control in one cabinet, but I think I’ll stick with the existing layout with the incoming AC supply and spindle drive in a separate enclosure. It’s already laid out that way.

The servo without a nameplate has a 1/2” shaft and it looks like mounting a new encoder won’t be too much work.

The Baldor is a different arrangement. Instead of the encoder going over a shaft like the other motor, it has a shaft coupler on the 1/4” shaft of the motor.

I could make a new end cap for the servo that moved the encoder closer to the shaft. Anyone already done one of these?

Remove the tachometer and check the shaft diameter. You don't need the tach anymore. Then perhaps you can mount a hollow shaft encoder in place of the tach, You will have to drill a hole in the housing to access the tiny set screws. I had to do this on one of my Glentek motors. I drill and then tapped for a setscrew plug.
Otherwise you can buy encders with a shaft and do the same as the original.

Didn’t see how the tach came off at first. Much better. It has a 1/2” shaft, too. Looks like I can mount encoder in there and make a shorter cover. I could use the existing cover, too I guess.

HY hasn't been able to sort out why autotune doesn't change any settings, in any of the three drive modes. I mostly bought the drive to get the spindle turning, and it does that just fine for now.

Big picture, I'd like something more.. I don't know.. Anyway, I'm really liking what I see with the Fuji Frenic Mega 15HP drive. Specifically 30a output with single phase input. The drive does have an option for a closed loop interface board. It's the best spec'd drive I'm finding, with single phase ratings at the $1k price point.

Well... I'm ready to place my control order.. and tomorrow is a holiday. Just how it goes. Really excited to get this thing making chips. I ordered the CNCPC today. Going to mount the 15" Asus touchscreen in the original Dynapath HMI enclosure. I know the resistive touch screens are a nice option, but I rarely use the touchscreen on my existing machine.

Does anyone know any of these questions, for Allin1DC..

• Can I buy probing routines without buying the DP-4?
• Can I have two wireless MPG's in close proximity to one another?
• Can I measure tools with a conductive probe I already have? Or is this a software unlock?

Centroid will be releasing a new pricing model for Servo series similar to Acorn pricing model soon.
You can use your own probe. If its a good one it should be OK. Download a DP-4 install guide for reference.

It plugs into AIO DC's probe port. I suggest you buy the mating CPC (Circular Pin Connector) for it and wire your probe to it PER the DP-4 wiring diagram. Doing so will also enable the probe detect circuit and enable the control's safety features while the probe is connected.
