Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
I think the Screw is 20 Turns Per Inch. and the Motor is 200 Steps per Revolution (1.8 deg per Step) . Which works out to 4,000 Steps per Inch.
In the Mach III Turning Screens, in the bottom Left, its has a box with "Steps Per" and 4,000 is filled in..

Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
If that is the case then steps per rev will be 200 and Overall Turns Ration will be 200

Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
I have the Acorn and I am can not geting past the Wizard Bench Test.
Software Boots up
I am able to Press Virtual E-Stop to reset and Clear
I am able to Press Start to Home (Zero the DRO)
When I click Start to run a program I get a Position Error
I get the same error if I try to move any of the Axis.
. .
Below is a picture of the Acorn. Nothing attached. I have the Pulse. There are a lot of other LEDs on.
. .
The Report is attached.
. .
Additional Info.
I have connected the MaxNC 15CL to the Acorn. I made some changes in the Wizard, and I am able to Turn the Spindle On and Off with Software. In the I/O hidden screen, I can observe the Home Switch changing state if I manually activate them. I get same error if I try to move any of the Axis.
I reset everything back to default for the Wizard Bench Test.
I have uninstalled the software and deleted the CNCM folder then re-installed the software. Same error results..
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
Put it in BENCHTEST and then you can work with it.
Don't assign a drive yet.
With no screen shots of your wizard pages, we don't know what you have set.
You have the new Acorn hardware. It has LED's to show you the state of the inputs and outputs, just like the ALT+I diagnostic screen
Red is off Green is on
Have you watched any of the videos in the Tech Tips Section? they are helpful.

Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
Did you set a PART ZERO first?
Press F8 on the screen when the job is loaded. If you get an error, you don't have it setup correctly.
Benchtesting is only to establish that ACORN and the PC are communicating.
Have you downloaded the CN12 Mill Operator's Manual? That will be of help.
Also go to Youtube and search Centroid Mill Training. Keith's videos are a big help.
I am off to San Diego to retrofit a router.....

Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
I was able to get the BenchTest to work.
.
I had to reset the Ethernet Adapter back to "Obtain IP Automatically" then reinstall the software per the instructions.

Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
I have not been able to get the motors to move properly yet..
.
I can bet some buzzing when I try to jog.
.
I tried all the 968 parameter values. No improvement.

Re: MaxNC15CL to Acorn
I found the discussion below, that says that the MaxNC CL requires quadrature. Which means that instead of Step and Direction It requires two square waves. Depending on which Wave is leading dictates the direction of the motor..
.
Can we make the Acorn output two square waves for each motor?
