I haven't tested those drives as I use the CS-D1008. My advice is that if they are working, leave them alone, but I would recommend setting the pulse rate at 100,000. LeadShine is a bit generous when stating that they are 200Khtz capable, and then requiring a 5us pulse width.

My issues were with dropping axes with a direction change and erratic steps. I assume there wasn't enough time between direction change and 1st pulse.

in general most all stepper drives and diy/hobby drives do better on the DB25

Industrial drives like Yaskawa, Estun, Delta use the screw terminals

Yeah it would be nice if there was a parameter to set the direction setup time. I'm sure it is somewhat tied to pulse rate now. But could be a nice bonus feature for odd drives or give a bit more margin.

Gary, I actually thought about changing to 100K after reading your posts, but I looked at the dropdown in the wizard and it only offers 200K and 400K. Do I need to go into Parameters and manually enter the value?

Interestingly, now that you mention it, I initially had an issue on the lathe where the Z stepper lost steps if I moved too fast, but solved that to my satisfaction by adjusting acceleration. I have a rev 3 on my PM25 mill that I converted with the same steppers/drivers, and initially had an issue with X steps, but I think I solved that with a new coupler that doesn't slip on the motor shaft.

Keith, OK, which driver wiring diagram should I use from the latest rev 3 batch for my Leadshine HBS860H hybrid closed loop drivers? None in the list mention the 860's. Do I use any resistors if I rewire or aren't they necessary on the db25?

Check out Franco's video of how to set custom step rates. You cannot do it in the wizard but are able to set the parameter manually in the software.

Just remember, any changes made directly within CNC12 will be overwritten if you use the Wizard and write changes. You will have to drop back into CNC12 and make the changes again.

Marty, I didn't know that was the case. I thought that only params changed by the wizard would be overwritten, not all params. Is what you're saying that if I change 968 manually, I have to go back in and reset it if I change anything in the wizard?

I have found this hasn’t been the case for me. I have made changes and updated the acorn via the wizard and double checked the parameter and it was still set to 100kHz. I definitely advise checking every time but yeah it’s not updated that particular parameter for me.
