I do have an internet connection but the firewall is off. Matter of fact, I get occasional messages that tell me to turn it back on. I have no trouble with starting CNC12, the problem is maintaining the connection or the program locking up the PC.

I would try a different PC.

Hmmm, I was hoping you wouldn’t say that since the PC was built specifically for the Acorn.

So far, everything is working this morning. I’m back to using the Leadshine profile and haven’t lost connection or locked up yet. I have now moved the Ethernet cable right over all the AC wires and the power strip I have everything plugged into to see if I can reproduce the problem.

My touchscreen interface is on USB and my keyboard and mouse are wireless. Is there any chance this could be a contributing factor?

Make double sure you have the latest and correct Ethernet drivers for your machine.
Most touchscreens use USB connections. I use a wireless Logitech K400+ keyboard, no issues.

Thanks, Marty, I will check the drivers. Had the lathe on all morning and it was working properly until a few moments ago. Got an ethernet com error, reset cleared it and then this buggy behavior.

There was a new driver so got it installed. Will see if that helps. Thanks again!

So the updated ethernet driver did not help. Might not be any other option than to try a different PC. I have updated to 4.10 and will test that more tomorrow.

I have updated to lathe 4.10 and that didn’t cure the problem. I have checked all (well, most of them as it seems there’s no easy way to check them all) the drivers on the PC and they’re up to date. I updated the firmware for the Samsung SSD I’m using. I haven’t yet figured out how to update the BIOS. I googled and was reading about ways to deal with Windows 10 lockups and that was another suggestion.

Sometimes I get the ethernet communication error and then I am still able to exit CNC12. Seems when I don’t get the error is when the PC is unresponsive.

I don’t know what else to try. I plan to test it on my old laptop and see if that helps.

What version of Wondows 10 are you using? Meaning Home, Pro or Enterprize.

I actually don’t know. I think it’s Home. Edit: I have Windows 10 Home.
