Leadshine L5-400 <Compatible with Acorn?, Yes>

Post by Nanoreactor »

I have L5-400 servo drives, are they compatible with Acorn? Searching isn't turning up any info

If they have a position mode with step and dir signals they are ok.

Do you have a manual of the drivers?

Yes i have the manual. It has position mode and pulse+/- and dir +/- inputs on the driver. So those take the inputs from the acorn and i just need to adjust the parameters in the driver to make the motors behave themselves?

Yes it would work if the servo parameters are set up according to Acorn settings.

Yep!

You'll probably want to try the DB25 header on Acorn for the step and direction signals.

Drive parameters should be set something like this:
Pr0.01 = 0 for position mode
Pr0.06 is either 0 or 1 to make it turn the correct direction
Pr0.07 = 3
Pr0.09 = 1
Pr0.10 = 1
(Pr0.09 and Pr0.10 set to 1 should make it so that the ratio between input pulses and the motor movement in encoder counts is 1:1. I believe this means that the Steps/Rev setting in the Acorn Wizard should be 10,000)

Of course, you'll need to follow the drive's manual to tune the motors to the load and so on.
