Upgrade from 4.20 to 5.26 Spindle configuration <resolved use v5.30+>
Have a KBSI-240D between my spindle and the Acorn that was working in 4.20 with the 0-10 V analog out. When I upgrade to 5.26 I am no longer seeing any change in voltage out of the analog out.
I have reviewed other posts like viewtopic.php?f=61&t=2027&p=13903&hilit=Spindle#p13903 but I don't see any information about configuring the 5.26 version with the values that would have been used in 4.x series for output on these pins. Can anyone please help explain what is necessary now?

That's a fairly big upgrade. Can you share the report? Is the output mapped for SpinFWD? Does the correct relay click in when you do M3 for spin start (or via manual click).

4.20? I think I was still in diapers when that was released.
As Chaz pointed out, please upload a report from the 5.26 software. 5.26 has two sections in the wizard for spindle #1 and spindle #2 so check all the settings in the wizard for spindle #1.

Re: Upgrade from 4.20 to 5.26 Spindle configuration
FYI I have G540 that I use for the stepper motor drivers. I copied line for line the output from the 4.x to the 5.x output.
Maybe this is even older than 4.20 id that is to be believed. I am attaching both the report from the 4X and the report from the 5X machine. I am using different computes for the upgrade. I did plug the 4X machine back into the Acorn and confirmed that the Spindle is working with that configuration.
Code: Select all
MPU12 Software Version : 4.12 (/cnc11/branches/acorn R7290 clean)
So my setup doesn't have a relay for SpinFWD so I guess it is always on and just waiting for a 0-10V DC output from the Acorn. I tried removing all output values fromIs the output mapped for SpinFWD? Does the correct relay click in when you do M3 for spin start (or via manual click).

Re: Upgrade from 4.20 to 5.26 Spindle configuration
4.12 is really old. 2017!
from the v4.12 report. looks like you are running the G540 in legacy support mode.( i like 'drive only' mode better than going this route)
so you are using these outputs to control the spindle THRU the G540.
G540SpinRevOff
and
G540SpinFwdOff
wired like this?

use the Alt i menu to observe the outputs do they change when you issue M3 S500 and then a M5

Re: Upgrade from 4.20 to 5.26 Spindle configuration
On the 5.26 setup I have tried multiple configurations of the output pins. Dropping all pins (driver only), setting the back to the "legacy mode" etc. Toggling individual wizard options. No change in any output from 0-10 V DC.
So instead of trying to shoot straight for 5.26 I have moved to 4.82 and applied the same settings as 4.20, and the spindle is working again. That at least gets me some additional updates, but still locks me out of the 5.x benefits. I really would like to sort out why my board doesn't appear to under any configuration have a spindle speed signal.
@cnckeith I do not have a to Spin forward relay, and as mentioned above I have also attempted to not set said value either. I do not believe the issue is with the KBSI wiring since it works on 4.20 and 4.82 installations. The 5.26 install under any configuration I have tried shows 0 V out on the spindle speed signal when trying M3 Sxxxx commands. No issues with 4.82.wired like this?

v5.30 has been released 3-7-25 with G540 legacy mode support fixed.
