Crazy WMPG Behavior

Post by grossmsj »

I reported this on the beta forum a while ago, and also posted it as part of the "10V Spindle.." thread.
CNCKeith said he'd like to see it. I have a link to the video of the behavior https://photos.google.com/share/AF1QipO ... M3alk4QmVR
Turn your sound on so you can hear me spinning the WMPG. While the display is lagging on the WMPG, the spindle is sort of lurching in spurts. The display in the DRO does not show any lag.

I tried calling Centroid to allow y'all to remote in but I could not get in touch with anyone technical support after 4 calls.
I checked the USB ports in Device manager and saw they were set to "allow computer to put the port to sleep". I unchecked that. We'll see in the next week if it has any effect.

Posting here so I don't steal the other user's thread with this issue.

thanks, the WMPG-6 is a rock solid performer. most issues come from PC/windows from user supplied PC's that are not setup for CNC use.
i've see a few WMPG's (out of thousands) that have issues so while i'm not ruling out an issue with the wmpg it is a good idea to eliminate windows/pc issues first.

and for anyone reading this thread. WMPG trouble shooting guidance is here.

info on the CNC PC and a fresh report.zip (so we can see your cnc config settings) would be helpful.

Yeah, this is an odd one. But if they never get reported one would never know.
It is recent behavior, since about 3 months ago. It probably is PC related.

is this a laptop?

i would uninstall the usb driver and reboot pc so it picks back up the WMPG usb transmitter and reinstall the drive since its easy to do and see if that makes a difference.

NUC11PAHi5

I would never use a laptop and post it to this Forum. Immeasurable shame!

I'll try the uninstall. Thanks for the advice.

A Nuc also has a bunch of power saving modes. Have a look in the bios

Shame? On this forum for using a laptop? Really? You've got to be kidding. :D

That NUC does use a laptop CPU, just sayin'
