Spindle analog output low voltage
Hey guys I just replaced my machine electronics enclosure with a larger on for better space etc. For some reason Im not getting the 0-10v output from the spindle analog out port. Right now Im getting 0.5v all the time regardless of MDI command I tried the spindle bench test again and Im getting incorrect voltage message due to the voltage being low. Im sure its something easy Im missing here but it was working correctly not long ago Im wondering if maybe I have a wire installed incorrectly. I know the VFD is correct I send 9.5v - 10v to analog control wires and spindle speed increases respectively. But at the analog out / com port im getting no change in voltage just a steady 0.5v any ideas? Is there any machine parameter settings that could cause this?
Thx
Thx

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
Hello,
I restored your report and was able to get the correct voltage readings using my Acorn.
I would recommend going back over your wiring and if you're still having the same issue, your board may have been damaged.
Here's a link to the Acorn installation manual: https://www.centroidcnc.com/centroid_di ... manual.pdf

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
do you have anything connected to the Acorn Analog out terminal while you are trying to measure the analog out voltage?

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
Hey
I have the multi meter connected directly to the pins of the Analog terminal, took the 2 wires out and installed the meter leads into it. I do have the motors and homing switches etc connected to the board but nothing else connected to analog out terminal.

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
ok great, just wanted to be sure you are trying to measure with nothing but the volt meter connected like the Acorn install manual shows in the spindle bench test section.
did you do the spindle bench test before hooking up the VFD wires? if so, what was your result? the spindle bench test procedure verifies analog out is working BEFORE you connect anything to it.
(this is factory tested as well before they ship )

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
Yes I did do the bench test procedure prior to installing the Acorn board. I was getting the correct outputs at the terminals while doing some VFD calibrations etc. However after switching control system enclosures I noticed the issue Im having now.

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
Is there any settings and or parameters that maybe causing this voltage problem? Ill have to double check the wiring again to see if Im missing something, as far as output to the VFD I just have forward and reverse and obviously the analog out and com.

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
if cnc12 thinks there is a touch probe plugged in (Probe Detect input) that would stop the analog out

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
Ok thats good idea let me try that and reply back, is there a chance the control board is faulty and or what would have caused that.

Re: Spindle analog output low voltage
Well I tried disconnecting all probe system wiring and still no change in the voltage. Steady 0.523V no matter what I do. If powered off the analog out will show no voltage once power is restored the voltage will read 0.523V immediately and stay at that voltage regardless of command. I'm wondering If I have a faulty board at this point. Any other advice would be great!
