A note about the PC, it does not meet the Centroid "minimum requirements" to run CNC12. When you install the latest 5.22 version it might be a good idea to get a new PC that meets those requirements to run the software. Could save you a lot of headaches down the road.
Yeah, thanks for pointing that out, I noticed that too. It lags under typing at times which is impressive... And many of the USB ports are just shot.

I'm going to be queuing up that replacement PC today as well. We have lots of PC's for our Centroid CNC's so I'm not worried

Update into my night work --

1) Charged the probe and the error light went away. When I tap it, the alert comes on. Did the probe diagnostics, tried to run the app, no luck.

I don't see the probe stopping anything or throwing up any errors so I don't think that its fully connected or configured but its not causing any issues, which is fine because we run jobs off the Haimer anyway.

2) Spindle motor connected. Servo seems to bounce the RPMs by about 5%. I can't tell if I've got a bad signal from the board, the wrong wires connected (I've never done that 5v connection wrong in my life). I can contact the servo drive maker as I've actually had dealings with them before.

The RPM/Belt ratios are way off but that's an easy fix but I need to get into the wizard to do that easily.

3) When I run a program I get a 327 error. It also keeps throwing out "Z move out of bounds" I can see how abysmal the computer specs are as it takes almost a minute to generate the simple paths.

I feel like there's a lot to dial in and get right but the computer and software version are holding me back more than doing me any good.

Am I correct to assume it might be time to update the software and upgrade the computer?

This would be the FIRST thing I would do if I were rebuilding it. There are dozens of improvements in the latest software and it makes no sense in my opinion to keep trying to patch things together with a PC that isn’t up to the task. Create a report and take wizard screen shots of all the settings and keep this old PC handy until you are up and running on the new PC. You’ll have to manually re-enter all your settings in 5.22, do not try and restore a report from the old machine.

New PC ordered. Unfortunately I can't even get into the wizard due to a "fatal error" so the best I can do is bounce the reports or keep the computer on hand.

New PC gets here tomorrow AM so I'll be connecting that ASAP and seeing how it does.

I have no idea what "bounce the reports" means but if you can't get into the wizard just create a current report and all the data you need is in there. Do not do a "restore report", you have to manually re enter all the data.

Here's the upgrade instructions to install the newest version.

Yes, thanks.

Bounce just means to export a file.

Copy the cnct folder with another name on the new PC, to have the old files if needed.

If you setup the new version, press ALT+P in the Wizard that will show the corresponding parameter for each field.
In the report of the old system are all parameter settings, so you just can type them in the Wizard.

New Computer (Intel N100 + 12gb ram + 512 gb SSD) and touchscreen are mounted up. Latest CNC12 installed.

Will be copying over the config as it is tonight > tomorrow. Will update from there.

Thank you all for your help thus far.

hand enter the data in the Wizard, press write settings etc.
do not use restore report.
you can copy over tool library and part zero locations if you want from the old install.

ok so I think I'm nearly there -- are all the vital parameters (axis motors, spindle motors, limit switches) in acorn_mill_plc.src and plc.map -- right?

Minus the VCP skins and functions, of course. I'm looking for core functionality first and foremost.
