0V and 24V probably go to terminals 11 and 12. See page 11 of the attached manual.

Many thanks. I need to correlate, the French doc had similar but it wasnt as clear and what looks to be some editing / words that didnt make sense to me (even with translator).

Ive only got 3 cables going to the ATC. Perhaps I have some wires unaccounted for in the cable that goes to the ATC (with the highest cable count). One cable is 4 wires, ATC motor. One is two wires, Thermistor, then the cable with a high core count.

I wonder if there might be another terminal (I didnt want to open the turret in case I disturb anything) which might correlate between the wires? See below, need to map all of these somehow.

I've mapped these as best as I can. I dont have S8, only got S7. I also dont have 5 bit, just 4 bit and not sure if there is also a parity check output. The 5 bit is needed for 12 and 16 Tool setups.

Based on this, am I correct to wire the 4 bit grey logic into input 1 - 4 and effectively should I see state change? I'm also not sure how I get voltage out if there is no Vcc, is this a Hall Effect 'effect'?

This is what's come back from Balluff in terms of wiring. I've asked for a bit more detail (if they have anything further). On a subsequent note they have confirmed that its PNP (based on the P in the part number).

At least that agrees with the Sauter table in your image above.
Cheers,

Confidence is the feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Yep. Thing is, am I wiring it wrong or is there something different I need to do? Ive ordered an Arduino (well, two different ones) to see if I can detect the change in stage and then just switch something and feed Centroid. It shouldnt need to be done like this but I'm not sure what else to try at this stage.

I might try and open the electrical connector on the turret and see. The doc shows where it is, but its tight on space.

Even if I cant get the 4 bit to work, the strobe pulses each movement and I could do some code around this (the way I do on the Triac's ATC) where this is only a single sensor that counts and has no other way of knowing. However, I cant get this strobe signal to be seen either, 0V, 6V, it never changes the Centroid input state.

If the turret encoder, and any turret-locked proximity sensor you may have, are PNP devices, then they will not work with the Acorn on-board inputs.

Acorn on-board inputs are only compatible with NPN devices.

If you need to connect to PNP devices, you will have to use an Ether1616 expansion board, which you can configure with current-sinking inputs.

OK Thanks :-( That's another £350 ish landed to get that sorted. Is there no 'workaround'?

You can try a converter like this one:

But you will run anyway out of inputs without Ether 1616, better bet is to get one.

Thanks. Funny enough, I bought one of those 3 years ago. Just need to find it.

I did however order one of these to try, pricy, but its worth trying.

https://www.amazon.co.uk/MRI-24TR-Signa ... B083M1K1H1

I am likely going to order the Eth 1616. Ive got one in a friends machine has an ATC (Mill) and its not strictly needed. That said, not sure now and I dont need the extra work to remove and change config, so might leave it as is.

Thanks all.
