Closed and open loop.

Post by Terry1956 »

Hi, I had a stepper driver go down yesterday, and all my motors are now old. So I am thinking of replacing the open loop system with a closed loop system. However money is tight at the moment and I can only afford to replace the broken unit at the moment. So I have a few questions. I watched Marty’s video on how to wire a closed loop motor and he wired the driver directly to acorn and not to the RF25 board. So my questions are. Can I use just one closed loop driver and motor and two open loop drivers on the same board. And can I wire the two open loop drivers to the RF25 board and the closed loop driver. If not how can I wire the system, if at all. Thanks

Most steppers are running better at 5V from DB25. CL Steppers are wired the same way, Encoder Feedback is only to the driver. No problem replacing them one at a time.
