software question

Post by Morris1275 »

I was running Mill Ultimate on my Personally built router using Online stepper CL86T Drivers and Nema 34 Closed Loop motors. The Machine was running great. But I felt that I wanted to use "Router Pro" software, so I purchased this software. When I purchased the Router Pro software, I stated that I will be using this software on the same board as the Mill Ultimate and stated the serial number, but I will no longer be using the Mill software. Since I changed the software, I cannot get the Router Software to work properly. Since the electronics was already working with Mill, I thought that I could bypass the Bench Test and go directly to the correct Driver that the Router uses. But I have had nothing but trouble with "Driver FAULT" If I went back to Mill, my machine worked GREAT! But when I loaded up CNC12 Router Pro, I received the Fault error. I have spent many hours trying to find any mistake I may have made with the configuration settings. But I have not found any mistakes, so I keep looking... but still don't find anything, although I must have missed something or it would work. Anyone have any Ideas?

Ron

As long as you don't change any wiring or machine configuration you should be able to install the Router version on the same board as the Mill without going to the bench test. I did back when it was beta testing.

If you upgraded from Mill to Router on the same CNC12 version, one thing that you can do to quickly identify the changes is to open up both reports ( one from mill, one from router ) in Notepad++ and use compare both reports in Notepad++. It will highlight the differences between the two reports.

You can also check your input settings (Input Screen Alt+i ) and verify if all of the inputs are the same and one is not inverted from Mill to Router. They should maintain the same settings on both mill and router if you haven't changed any wiring on your machine.

If you post both your previous working mill and new router reports that will others can look at both reports and help identify the issue.

I am running Router and Mill software on the same machine with no problems.

Do the same setup in the wizard as the mill version and it is easy to switch.

Are both Mill and Router on the same version?

Yes both 5.2 at the moment, but this worked also with Router 5.18 and Mill 5.10

Well, I continued to try and figure out WHY I was getting a Driver Fault error. I believe I figured it out. In life there is always the one thing that we forgot to do! My one thing is that when I wired up the Mill I was working 12 hours a day 7 days a week, but I kept telling myself this machine needs to be finished, well somehow I did not wire up the Alarm + and Alarm - and I have not checked the software setup in CNC12 Mill , but I would think I did not set input 5 with driver Fault, but when I setup Router I did setup pin 5 with Driver Fault which caused it to have the Driver Fault Error, as the wiring was not complete! I learned another lesson to live by, and I caused others to think about what could be the problem. I would like to thank everyone for helping me, I appreciate the help!
