Trying to use an AIKRON linear scale to map my ballscrews in CNC12. I posted before about this here: https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic. ... put#p87561
and here:
https://centroidcncforum.com/viewtopic. ... 568#p85568
I want to hook up the scale to my encoder input but i need a way of setting the input to read the position instead of RPM.
I have rewired the AIKRON to work properly and it reads ok, only issue is its stuck on RPM. I have regular Acorn board (3+1 axis) with Mill Pro.
When i go to setup > machine > config > scales, it will not allow alterations, says "the unlock for scales feature is not enabled".
Anyone know how to get this to work? I cant seem to find any other information about this in the manual.

"Scales" is for position feedback and you need Ultimate for that. If you just want to display the output on a DRO, you need to set it up as a manual axis.
I don't believe the Wizard can do this, but you can do it through Setup for the axis, and parameters to use the spindle encoder port for the axis you just set up.
Here's a previous post that will give you some hints:

Perfect, i got it working thanks to your post.
One question came up in this process, one of my axis' in Setup>Config>Mach>Motor, Axis 5 has an "s" next to it. Do you know why this would be?

That is your spindle encoder. See section 15.2.2 in the mill manual. You should also check P35 since you are no longer using the encoder input for a spindle encoder.
