Lathe tool offsets Not saving the correct file V5.08 <resolved>
Centroid V5.08 I have been saving the lathe offsets file from the tool offset page. Using export tool offsets button.
The file that it saves is not the same as the tool offsets on the screen. It seems to export an older version of the tool offsets file. See photo and file attached. Look at tool 2 and tool 8. Is there a backup file which is an older version that it is saving?
Even in the report it is saving it from an older tool offset page or not updating it when i have pressed save for the tool offsets.

Re: Lathe tool offsets Not saving the correct file V5.08
I believe after you make any changes to the tool library, you must save (F10) before exporting, otherwise it will save what was in the tool library before the latest changes were made.

Re: Lathe tool offsets Not saving the correct file V5.08
What exactly is making you think that the CNC12 screen and tool library files are different versions? Your screenshot and the .txt are identical except for the fact that CNC12 reports the X offset's diameter and the .txt reports it in Radius (and to one extra decimal of precision). What is the relationship between tool 2 and tool 8?

Why doesn't the report save it like it is on the screen? So as you can print out a copy of the correct figures.

click on F5 export library in the tool library and you get a nice .txt file of the lathe tool library.

Re: Lathe tool offsets Not saving the correct file V5.08
I don't know if you are aware of some of the issue with tool touchoff in Acorn Lathe. There was (presumably still is) an issue with the offset calculations when touching off in some circumstances. I haven't seen a resolution yet but there again I haven't checked every release note since this was found.
In my case, the tools are mounted "face up" at the back of the machine, with the spindle rotating in a CW direction. This requires "left hand" tools and
may be one reason why it wasn't tested or found. Things got tricky when I tried to touch off boring bars, then things got even trickier. Now I have to resort to skim cuts which aren't always practical.

I'd like to think these offset calculation errors would be corrected at some stage, although I appreciate lathe users are in a minority here.

With the probe mounted in the centre of the Z-Axis TTO works perfectly in all directions.
But I did not test an offset mounted probe.

Re: Lathe tool offsets Not saving the correct file V5.08
Are you saying you have tried touching off an internal boring bar?
On my machine, I have to touch off on the same side of the axis as external tools. In this case, there is an error in the tool length calculation. I forget the details but they are spelled out in that thread. There was no simple numerical fix I could think of to apply.
