I export my g-code to a flash drive, then plug the flash drive into the computer that runs CNC12. I often swap back and forth many times. Has anyone used a USB switch of sorts to facilitate this? Is there a better way to do this?
Here is one I was about to buy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B2N ... 6ZF58&th=1

Re: USB Switch
I dont have any experience with that setup, but I am looking to setup my own cloud. That way all my computers can share files and iPhones as well. I am tired of paying Apple each month for storage so I am setting one up at my house. I am leaning towards this system. They have cheaper ones with smaller hard drives.

Re: USB Switch
If you have an older desktop PC around you can try TrueNAS, it's free and works great as a shared network storage solution. Problem I found with off the shelf NAS is support after production ends. After two NAS systems which weren't able to be supported to my satisfaction after production ended, I switched to the open source solution where I have more control, redundancy, and can upgrade by adding more drives as I need.
Using a NAS system you will still want to copy the g-code files to the local drive on the computer, running G-Code from a network drive is inducing unknown variables based on the performance of the network.

Re: USB Switch
This is very interesting. My goal is to simply share files from my computer running Fusion 360 and the one running CNC12. Your post reminded me that I have a few external hard drives hanging around. I'm not a computer guru but I am fairly certain I can plug this hard drive into a USB port and right click on the folder and make it shareable. If all works out, I will then be able to drop files onto this hard drive and see them on the CNC12 machine.
