Hello,
A while back is when I inquired about some odd wiring issues w/ the PSU outside of the AcornCNC. First off, are there any 3.3v lines for limit switch logic (four wire) and if not, are there some ideas going around about how to incorporate this type of limit switch?
I have a three wire pump also. It feeds water throughout the gas laser core to cool the tube.
The three wire pump, of course it is generic (everything on this machine is generic or from Who-Blah), seems to have a GND, 5v, and 3.3v logic on/off.
Issues so far, I have no way to tell if the machine is going to be operational w/ the 5v from the AcornCNC.
I have 5v out on my PSU and from the AcornCNC. Good news there! But!
1. Should I use or try first to see if a logic level converter would prove useful in my situation?
2. Is there a way to tap 3.3v logic from the AcornCNC to my limit switches and/or pump.

P.S. Things are going well on the build so far, i.e. outside of the 3.3v logic needs. Um, I guess logic level converter it is for me...

Acorn does not use 3.3v so you will need another power supply or a DC-DC converter to generate it. However, there is a reason that industrial tools usually use 24VDC or 24VAC for signalling. There is a significant amount if electrical noise in machine tools and 3.3V is below the "noise floor".

Okay. I may be mistaken...I need to make sure but I am unassured so far how I can test this use case. I will just power them w/ 5v, i.e. you are most likely correct in this circumstance.
The reason being, the reason I think you are right, is that there was a "step up" card associated w/ the Stellaris (I think). I am doing many years of work and packing it into guess work on my end w/out schematics and/or wiring diagrams. It seems it would be easy but it has been a task so far.

Yes, you wire each switch to its own input on the Acorn board. This uses a lot of inputs this way so if you run out you need the expansion board. Are they mechanical or proximity switches?

page 10 shows individual limit switch wiring on ether1616, same for Acorn (24 volt), Note: Ehter1616 can be 5,12, or 24.

Just to Rehash Older, General Ideas Here,
I found out that even at 5v, I need to take some precautionary measures handling the emitter and collector on the bot in question.

That .pdf online at ttelectronics is a good all around set up of ideas for using the OPB830W5Z which I am using for an older design.
Also, the ideas in that .pdf gives me more than enough to build around the already glued in optoelectronics. Phew.

1. I have four Lines for AC/DC but the four lines in this instance are for powering the PSU that will power some of the electronics and control the Gas Laser.
2. There are two Grounds for some reason. I have figured out that the Grounds/GNDs are for an E-Stop directly attached to the housing of the Laser Box and the input of the AC to the Laser Box.
3. I wanted to attach the AC to this house to test the rest of the Electronics, e.g. 3.3v, 5v, and so on...
If I was to wire the AC GND of my input w/out E-Stop, would I use (and this is just for testing that what they say is correct) FG in the photo or L- near the right side of the photo?
I understand a lot but little in this effort so far.
