First bench test problem?? (Resolved)

Post by midy »

Well i've just started bench testing with one motor and for some reason the motor only works in one direction. if you reverse direction in the wizard it does go in the opposite direction but then not the other way? It's early days I know but just wondered if this was something obvious which i'm missing?
(wood for trees etc) I've tried swapping drivers for the one motor and swapping axis but still the same.

Can't see you're wiring very well. How are your limit switches configured? How is home configured? Just a guess it's trying to find a home location.

Thanks for the reply, i've solved it now. Silly error - the neutral for the 5volt supply was in the wrong place! Fool, no harm done though

You're not the only one that this happens to! It happens to all of us, its the nature of the hobby. Treat it as a learning experience.
I echo Frijoli's comment, thank you for letting us know what it was. So many people come with problems and complaints but when they figure them out, they don't come back and share what the resolution was. That information is really important to share with others.

Thanks again enjoy the build and a great controller!

yup, this is my 5th build and the silly mistakes are still made! No magic smoke though - thankfully.
Here's the control box - nearly finished.....

wood is not a good idea for a sub panel. use metal.

I'm using wood first to finalise the positioning etc. Then I overlay the wood onto the metal and mark all the holes and have one big drilling session!
