I need to connect all four alarm outputs from the drivers to a single Acorn input (I have no other) DriveOK.
The problem is that the ALARM output from the drivers (Panasonic Minas A5), are normally closed, and they can not be changed.
The relative output transistors turn on when the drivers are at Normal Status, and off at Alarm Status.
My question is: to avoid using an external module with 4 relays to convert the signals from NC to NO and wire them in series, can I wire the four driver outputs directly in series, changing the DriveOK input as NC? - please see attachment
Considering that the VCE of the output transistors, according to the Driver's manual, is about 1 volt (Darlington), if I connect them in series there is a total drop of about 4 volts, so it would remain 20 volts, enough for the Acorn Input OFF voltage min, 19.1 volts.
Or I am wrong?
Thanks
Henry
Normally close Alarm output from Servo drive in series?

You can also configure them NO and wire parallel. (most drivers are NO by default)
If one driver closes, input will switch to Drive fault.

Re: Normally close Alarm output from Servo drive in series?
Hi Uwe,
Thanks for the super quick reply!
My drivers do not allow to configure the Alarm outputs as NO. -
From the manual: ..."The relative output transistors turn on when the drivers are at Normal Status, and off at Alarm Status".
I can only assign the Alarm output to a different pin.

Ok, I changed my CL57T/CL86T drives to NC and wired them in series, works ok.
