The KP-3 was designed with flying lead cables to keep the costs low and make it easy for Acorn users to connect it.Upnorth wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 12:31 pm Wow sold out in 24 hours. I think maybe making the probing routines available in the licence upgrade might have helped with the brisk sales. It certainly made me upgrade sooner than planned.
Is there any reason why the new probe could not be used on the All in 1 DC board? It would be nice to able to use the probe on more than 1 type of control board.
But yes, you could use it with All in One DC provided you get the CPC connector and the mating header cable (about $50 from Centroid). (Centroid is considering a deluxe version of the KP-3, but nothing finalized yet and due to the current virus situation, it has made things more difficult for Centroid, but they are TRYING.
There is a small circuit board under the heatshrink tubing of the current flying lead cable version. The purpose of that tiny board is to invert the NC output to NO. This is required to maintain compatibility for use with Centroid controls (all of them).
Hopefully Centroid will get more built and back in stock soon. The KP-3 is modeled after the DP-4. It is robust in design. Mechnically it is VERY similar.
I think users will appreciate it over inexpensive kinematic probes available on the market.
