CNC12 v4.18 Acorn Spindle Fault

Post by johnnw »

I am confused about the correct wiring of a HuanYang VFD to Acorn board.

After searching the forum I find a post where Marty says "There is an error in the HY Schematic, use FB & FC".

Then I checked the following 2 schematics:

S14898-ACORN_rev3 HUAN YANG VFD.pdf dated 180427 shows VFD FA goes to Com and FB goes to DriveOK (Input5 on the Acorn board).
While S14984-ACORN_rev4_HUAN_YANG_VFD.pdf dated 191022 shows VFD FA going to Spindle OK (again Input5 on the Acorn) and FB going to Com.

This is quite a difference.

I have wired my system using the latter diagram: FA ==> Input5 and FB ==> Com but this gets me a Spindle Fault message.

I would try the other diagram but I'm concerned I would screw up Acorn.

The VFD/Spindle works fine in manual mode.

Anybody with a HuanYang VFD and Acorn care to suggest what I should try?

Thanks

John

Never mind. Palm to forehead.
I was ignoring the "Rev 3" and "Rev 4" description in the titles of the schematics.
Just realized I have a Rev3 board and should probably use the older diagram.
I will try it in the morning.
Thanks
