Acceleration
How does one set/control acceleration.
At present direction changes are brutal, so how to soften them so that it decelerates somewhat before a direction change.
Para 165, I do not follow what the impact of these options will be.
Can someone shed some light ?

Re: Acceleration
If you want decent answers, your going to have to provide a decent question. It's like me saying my car runs bad, what's wrong with it? You should post the report, what settings you have, what motors, what kind of machine, some pics and or video......

Re: Acceleration
Perhaps if I put the question another way...
In Mach3 it's very easy to set the acc/dec for each axis.
What/Where is the equivalent in the Acorn world ?

Re: Acceleration
In the wizard, axis configuration, accel/decel. Then you can also do some fine tuning with the smoothing parameters (read up on smoothing config in the manual.

Re: Acceleration
Acceleration is speed increase over time. Usually units per sec^2 or units per minute per second. Some controllers use the units, Centroid uses time. Default is .5 or a half second.
That means you will accelerate to your set speed in a half second. If you wish to soften it up, use a larger number, if you wish to go more aggressive, use a smaller number. Sounds like you are going to use a larger number. Start with one, and work your way smaller a tenth at a time.

Re: Acceleration
I ended up using .8 to soften my starts and stops, but don't forget to look at turning on smoothing also.

Re: Acceleration
Is that a parameter option or only via the CAM software? If parameter, which number please?Ken Rychlik wrote: ↑Tue May 28, 2019 7:18 am I ended up using .8 to soften my starts and stops, but don't forget to look at turning on smoothing also.

Re: Acceleration
I was trying to avoid the wizard as it keeps overwriting the "hom" file every-time it saves - which is a little annoying.
But your right, easy to set in the Wizard.
Now set to '1.0' and things are much better.
thanks

Re: Acceleration
tell the wizard you are creating your own home program....choose "custom user defined" and the wizard won't overwrite your home program
