Acorn6 CNC12 router V5.20, PLCEXP 1616 not working
I started to retrofit my Cosmec Conquest 255 CNC Router with the acornsix controller and the PLCEXP 1616 but for some reason the PLCEXP 1616 does not work, the wizard detects it but none of the inputs and outputs work even when I force them with the Input Output PLC Diagnostic App.

Re: Acorn6 CNC12 router V5.20, PLCEXP 1616 not working
Inputs are not going to work because you have no SIPs installed. I don't know why the outputs are not working. You can try disconnecting the external 24 supply on H6 and see if it works with the power from the SCOUT cable on H7.
Cheers,
Tom

Re: Acorn6 CNC12 router V5.20, PLCEXP 1616 not working
The PLCEXP1616 does not require SIPs for 24VDC inputs.
Like the AcornSix itself, the PLCEXP1616 input circuits have a built-in resistor suitable for 24VDC. Installing a SIP adds a parallel path, to reduce the total resistance when needed for a 12V or 5V input supply.
What display do you get on LED1 on the PLCEXP1616 board?
Perhaps if you post a Report, then someone from Centroid can take a look and see why it might not be working.

Manual states 2.2K for 24 volts on pg.3.

In which manual because in the XP1616 PLC manual there is nothing about that.
Here is the report in case this is helpful

For 24V Inputs install the 2.2 K Sips and 24V to every Common 1-4 / 5-8 ....

Re: Acorn6 CNC12 router V5.20, PLCEXP 1616 not working
Thanks. I am pretty sure page 3 of that manual is wrong. It was probably copied from previous material (e.g. PLCADD1616) and not updated.
Note the diagram on page 2, which shows that each input has a parallel resistor that completes the circuit even if the SIP socket is empty.

Re: Acorn6 CNC12 router V5.20, PLCEXP 1616 not working
I've never used the PLCEXP but I am using an Acorn Six with 24v inputs with NO SIPS installed. It clearly states in the Acorn Six manual:
Voltages can be selected by installing the appropriate SIP. Without a SIP installed (default configuration when
shipped from Centroid) the voltage is set to 24V.
