First lathe part on a converted Shopmaster Mill Turn

I’ve pretty much completed the conversion of a Shopmaster Mill Turn to Acorn/CNC12 control. This is a brief tour and first lathe part using the Centroid pawn file. The video gets a little long during the main cutting and I’m a video newbie so haven’t figured out how to speed it up. You may want to drag the bar over ;?)

Very nice Terry! You can hear the CSS working with the encoder. Look forward to seeing it thread and tap when you are comfortable with that.
Try and use Intercon to set it up.

Thanks for sharing your journey on a nice machine. First one I know of to be refitted with Centroid Acorn.

Well, I did get a thread cut but it was pretty much a all day project. It was my first look at Intercon and lathe cutting threads. I never could get a chamfer cut on the end of the shaft. I must have read that section and flipped the options around a dozen times but couldn’t figure it out. But, that’s for another time ;?)

At the end of the video, I couldn’t find the test nut to try. In the video, you can see that the magnet on the back of the MPG had picked it up. It’s just as well because it was too tight. I had to tweak the thread tool offsets three times to finally get it down small enough. I haven’t gone back to see where I am off on the tool offsets.
