I have only x and y installed but im really happy with it so far. Im making my own z quill adapter using the x y just doing a manual z Movements. I couldn't wait to see some chips fly so i found some material and made a plate for my car.

Re: Jet knee mill
As I mentioned in the comments. Would like to know if your mill was 2 axis CNC originally or you swapped XY to ballscrews (or not) and do go over the Z axis in a little more detail. That would be great and servce as inspiration to others.
I have a friend with an ENCO 9x42 knee mill he wants to convert. Having trouble finding someone with an XY Yoke or at least dimentions for the ball nuts.
Thanks so much for posting your experience with Acorn and sharing your videos!

Re: Jet knee mill
Marty,
I ended up buying my ballscrews and yoke from Hiwin in Chicago. Deal with them direct and you'll get reasonable prices. Order all three parts together (2 screws and the yoke) and you'll get 20% off.

I have CDO. It's like OCD, but the letters are where they should be.

Its a 2008 Jet Knee Mill.. x asis power feed only. It does have new Accurite DRO too.
I am still using the std acme screws..008 X .0065 backlash Circles show obvious spots where tool unloads due to backlash. I could try and tighten it but my screw is really tight on the ends if tightened it any more. I need ball screws but im considering buying a older haas or other vmc and converting it. I haven't made my mind up yet.
I have all my drawings available for free on my cad grab. I can make them for him for cheap. Part numbers below for pulleys/belts. My setup is very hobbyist and is not refined very much.
I will upload the motor mount plate in a few days

Re: Jet knee mill
You going to stay with the ACME Screws on X&Y or swap them over to ballscrews?
Curious to see how you make the yoke...
