It is different from point cloud date in more than that it has a G1 in front of every line. Each coordinate X, Y, and Z is also in there. Pure point cloud data is ONLY the numbers - no G1 or G0 or X, Y, or Z. Yes I could strip out the coordinates, I do know how to do that.
It's ok either way. I still don't know how to create a STL, OBJ of any other of surface, 3D model out of it.
The G-code is not what I am looking for. I want a 3D model surface. Kinda like using an STL to create G-Code, but in the reverse direction. I want to create an STL or other 3D model FROM either point cloud data OR from G-Code.
I have not seen anything in Vectric Aspire, Fusion 360, Solidworks or any other Cad software to convert G-code or point cloud data into STL or other 3D models.
It is quite easy for me to be missing something as I really do NOT know. I am trying to learn how to do it.
The link to Centroid manual just showed a list of manuals and I did not know what to pick out of that list.
I use Vectric Aspire, and reasonably versed in the modeling aspect.
There is a Gadget to import, but it imports only 4 or 5 specific file formats.
I am not quite as well versed in Fusion 360, but I took a quick look in there and didn't see anything. An internet search told me it was not possible in Fusion. I do not have Solidworks any longer.
In your response:
("These files can then be imported into any CAD/CAM software or viewed with a simple text editor.")
How is that possible - I cannot find anything like that.
So - I am trying to learn how to do it.
Have you ever done it?
How did you do it?
Please don't take me as being sarcastic or arrogant. It's near impossible for a novice to come across with proper "tone"
Really I do appreciate your help in this. I can clearly see that you are reaching out to try and help me.
I want the probing - but for the price I really need to get this feature to work as this is what I want to do with it more than anything else.
I like what I see in Centroid and I want to upgrade over this winter. I have a couple of customer jobs to finish up otherwise I would do it today.
