Hi all
I just got my Acorn powered DIY router up and cutting.
I have to say that Acorn is more intuitive for me than Mach was.
The wizard is well thought out for the end user. (like me lol)
And the online support is top notch comparatively.
Well worth the extra investment I think .
But the proof is in the cut'en
I'm very pleased with the Acorn Mill Pro, not one hiccup during a cut with the software.
I did have that one little inconvenience when I tripped the breaker to the control box.
But I was able to resume from the last tool change and finish the job.
I'm still in the early stages, but very happy to this point.
Tell me what you think of my machine cut quality , Most of the liner parts and screws are used out Walter CNC Tool & Cutter Grinders - Helitronic.

Re: First 3D Carvings
Lookin' good. What was your ballnose diameter?
I'll be getting up and running shortly and have several 3D jobs to run. I mostly run a 0.0625 BN at 8% stepover due to the need to pull more detail.

Re: First 3D Carvings
Thanks
I used a 1/4 in ball nose for the roughing 3 flute carbide
The finishing pass was a 2 flute .115 dia, ball nose carbide
Both bits are rejects, didn't pass inspection.
Girl friend works in inspection dept. they just scrap them so they let her take some home for me

Re: First 3D Carvings
Thanks Keith
I have Gecko 203vs , NEMA23 570oz/in 5A 3/8” Dual Shaft Stepper Motor (KL23H2100-50-4B) steppers
PSU is an Antek 1500 watt toroidal
Now, I have the drives hooked up to the Acorn header with the resisters ,Iam going to try the DB25 break out wiring and see what happens.
Before I put the trigger on the DMM DNY2 you suggested
I was just cutting some 2d shamrocks out and it did the same thing at 75 ipm like in the video
I have it air cutting now at 54% no knocks or bumps yet ... but mannn its slooow

Re: First 3D Carvings
Hi all
I got it back up and running with the DMM DYN 2s and motors. They work grate and are smooth.
But as it turns out it wasn't the motors, it was the DAM PC!!!
So happy to be back up an going , and I also upgraded to the CWP-4 pendent. Love that thing.
Here are couple of things I've cut ......Besides air in the last few days lol.
