I am 18.5 hours into cutting a 45MB G-Code file. It is a walnut display piece for a customer. Very pleased with the results so far. 0.25mm tapered ball nose carving bit, 0.1mm stepover. Total estimated cut time 24 hours. When I have attempted similar projects with Mach3, they didn't go well.

Impressive piece of work! I wish I knew how to write code to create a project like that. I use Fusion 360 but when it comes to something other than just slots, pockets, faces and so on I get lost pretty easy.
Acorn is a pretty amazing product! ( I have two of them)

Looks awesome Clint great job!! Got a few questions for you about the artwork, how big is the piece, and what did you do the art in Aspire? I was just curious since I only have V-carve Pro and the one 3d file I've tested I had to draw it up with fusion 360 which I don't care for very much, it's not really good for artistic designs. I was just wondering if you used Aspire for that design since it turned out really nice.
Thanks,
Dan

Ghack, I live in Springdale! It's a small world.
Dan,
The piece was 18"x24"x3" I bought the artwork online from here and used Fusion 360. I don't use V-carve or Aspire. I've looked at Aspire vs. Fusion and they are vastly different. So far there hasn't been anything I can't do with Fusion.
The finished piece: Another cool project a topographic map:

Re: Very Pleased with my Acorn and CNC12
Oh ok, I need to spend some time doing some 3d designs I really like the depth of that piece. That guys prices aren't bad if they are original designs, the one you bought had to take time to draw.
I think I need to pick up one of those tapered end mills you got some great detail with that cutter, what brand do you use if you don't mind telling me? Right now I've been using some small ballnose cutters as well as a 60 degree vbit but I'm not super happy with the cut finish.
Thanks,
Dan

Re: Very Pleased with my Acorn and CNC12
I used a 0.25mm tapered 5degree end mill off of Amazon. 0.1mm per pass. That particular file was $75. I thought it was worth it. I had them do a custom design for me, Ellana did a great job and made every change I wanted.
