Here is a video of my newest Electronic Edge Finder. At touchdown, it feeds a contact closure to the auto touchdown function of CNC12. My probe is an uninsulated piece of 3/8" drill rod. Total cost is under $5. Not much hardware, but a fair amount of software runs on the Arduino ATTiny85.
